Is the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter compatible with my current inhibitor and coolant packages?
Yes, the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter uses the same basic cleaning technology that has been used in the industry for years. The major difference is that the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter does not require draining and flushing the system
I am concerned about dissolved solids, will the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter increase the level of dissolved solids in the coolant?
Yes and no. Enviro-CoolTM does not use phosphates in any of its products because phosphates are a major cause of dissolved solids problems, nor does it include any inert binding agent as some pelletized chemicals do.
The level of dissolved solids will, however, increase after using the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter . This is because the chelating agents in the cleaner re-liquefy the minerals original in the coolant which had plated out as scale on the walls of the cooling system. Those minerals then flow freely throughout the engine without harming seals, liners, etc.
How is it that the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter can be left in the system and all other s must be drained?
The chelating agents used in most of the cleaning products are very aggressive cleaners when in an acidic system. However, by maintaining a high pH solution (9.5 to 10) the chelating agents become controlled and manageable. The Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter takes advantage of this basic chemical principle to provide you with an easy, cost-effective means of maintaining your cooling system.
What if the coolant's pH is too low? Does this mean that I have to drain the coolant before using the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter ?
No, you simply need to bring the pH back up into the accepted range. The easiest way to do this is to add a liquid SCA package. Then just spin-on the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter . After using the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter you must maintain the inhibitor level in the 9.5-10 range. When the inhibitor level drops, corrosion begins to form within hours.
I use an anti-freeze recycling system, so I don't need the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter , right?
No, the recycling systems on the market today are designed to remove impurities from the coolant. They are not primarily intended to clean hardened scale and corrosion from the walls of the cooling system. In fact, the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter complement s the use of a recycler. First, use the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter for a month to re-dissolve any mineral deposits which have formed. Next, use a recycling system to remove the dissolved solids from the liquid.
Will the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter damage any of the soft metals or hoses?
No, the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter will not harm any of the materials in the engine. See the ASTM tests under the ??Technical Information?? button on this website ( add link to table here *). The Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter may, however, remove some stop leak products.
How is the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter different from a standard cleaner?
Enviro-CoolTM uses the same chemical ingredients as most engine cleaners. The main difference is that the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter is concentrated and is introduced into the cooling system via a spin-on filter. No draining or flushing is required. Present cleaners are all liquid and require draining, flushing, dilution and/or mixing.
While cleaning the engine cooling system, how does the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter protect cleaned surfaces?
To use the Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter , you must test the coolant first for inhibitor and anti-freeze levels (a test kit is included in the filter package.) If the inhibitor or anti-freeze level is not satisfactory, liquid make-up such as Nalcool 2000, Cool-tech, or Fleetguard DCA is necessary to bring the level up. Enviro-CoolTM has included in its formulation film formers, anti-foams, pH buffers, as well as concentrated chelant cleaners. These protective chemicals, such as nitrates (for aluminum protection), Tolytriazole (TT, for red metals), borate buffers (to maintain alkaline pH), and Pluronic L-61 anti-foams (to stop cavitation corrosion) are effective as evidenced by the independently conducted ASTM series of tests.
Does Enviro-CoolTM introduce anything into the engine cooling system that is different from present day chemicals?
Even though the Enviro-Cool
TM pellet formulation is different, it does not have any ingredients that have not already been in use in engine cooling systems. All the chemicals used in the
Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter are biodegradable or naturally occurring. This was done specifically to counter any OEM questions and/or opposition to the
Enviro-CoolTM Cleaner/Filter .
